The last time I was here, I showed you these tablecloths and invited you to come back to see what blue and yellow have to do with Fall decorating. You’re back! I’m so glad you stopped by for a visit. Thank you! Now let’s talk decorating …
Several weeks ago I was in Big Lots and saw this Fitz and Floyd piece for $30. I absolutely loved it, and it was calling my name — but I walked away. Not much time to shop … it was large and I wasn’t sure where I would store it … I didn’t NEED it … the lines were long … I walked away.
Last week I was in Big Lots again and it was 50% off! Now only $15 — and still calling my name … (There were three. Should I have picked one up for you, too?) I grabbed it and headed for the check-out lane. Still didn’t NEED it — I wanted to share it with you!
Next I stopped by the grocery store and bought some yellow gourds … and added them to some faux (aka FAKE) ones I bought last year at Dollar Tree. Can you tell the difference? I don’t think so …
… unless you bought the same gourds at DT last year, too! (The three small ones are imposters!)
I pulled out this tablecloth — and started setting the table.
The Fitz and Floyd centerpiece filled with gourds …
… surrounded by wooden candle holders and a faux leaf garland. (I’d usually use real leaves, but it’s still a little too early here in the valley.)
I added a teakwood salt and pepper set…
A vintage Wild Turkey decanter…
…a vintage Lenox Saw Whet Owl figurine — and a sprinkling of pecans throughout.
Then I went to work on the place settings. These copper-colored embossed plastic chargers are available at Wal-Mart right now.
When night fell, it was time to light the candles …

It is all stunning. I love your Big Lots lantern, and it is perfect with the gourds. Your table setting, linens, silver and accessories are all perfect. I love it. Hugs, Marty
Yes!! You definitely created a blue and yellow FALL tablescape, and I love it. I have already made myself sick of brown and orange and it’s not even October yet. It’s my own fault.
I love this, and have a hunch it will be one of my favorites for the week!
Oh,and the owl? So cute and a favorite part.
Blue and yellow aren’t a combination I would be conjuring up when thinking of autumn, but you sure made it work…beautiful table, Susan. Love your gourd centerpiece…it is hard to believe those lovely charger plates are plastic!
Blue and yellow sure do work for a fall tablescape! Yours is lovely! I love the plates, the centerpiece and those pretty wooden leaf napkin rings. Great job!
oh yeah, the blue looks absolutely beautiful with the golds and the browns. love the owl and what a deal on that piece at big lots.
Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.

What a beautiful fall tablescape. Since I’m a huge blue and yellow fan this inspiration is wonderful for my fall table. Just love those leaf napkin rings and the turkey decanter.
Isn’t it adorable with blue in fall? I love the way you mix your colour combo.

Big Lots is a great place to find a little treasure now and then, you sure picked yourself of a nice one.

I think with the right touches (and you DID add those) blue and yellow are lovely fall colors.
Way to go holding out for half off!
Your table setting turned out beautiful! I do kike the turkey that is a great find. Have a good day…..Julian
Thanks you for this! I decorate with blue all year long, and this gives me some great ideas for bringing in the yellow and bronze adn brown colors of the fall to go along with it. I doubt if my table will ever look as spectacular as yours though… will you just come over and decorate my house for me?
Another beautiful table scape!
Good price on that vase!
Very nice combination! I really like that Fitz & Floyd centerpiece vase!!! And the stemware came from Dollar Tree? I’ve never been in that store, but I’ve seen them around town. I will have to stop in! Thanks for the heads up!
