SO MANY PROJECTS! {Hoping there’s method to the madness!}

Ten years ago today I hit “publish” on my first blog post.

Where has the time gone?

Blogland has been through a lot of changes since that day a decade ago. So have I. You, too?

And yet we still meet here to share Life; its joys and frustrations, proud moments and heartbreaks, celebrations and peaceful quiet. If you’ve been along for the ride since the beginning, I’d love to know!

I’m not a juggler, but it seems (even during these stay-at-home days) all I’m doing is juggling projects.

For various reasons, we’ve started a lot of projects, but few are actually finished. There’s really a lot happening around here! So much, in fact, that I can’t seem to slow down enough to wrap my head around it all and pick one project to share with you—at least not yet.

So I’ve put together this hodge-podge collage of a few current projects. I’d love to hear how you interpret the project behind some of these pictures!

Here are a few hints . . .

Front porch:  floor is sanded but still needs sealer and final trim work

Guest bathroom:  gutted, expanded, window restored; awaiting tub installation, finishes, antique lighting, and antique storage cabinet

Entry lighting:  designing custom piece

Kitchen:  layout determined, appliances ordered, gathering the “old” to give it character

Landscaping:  new plants are doing very well thanks to Renaissance Man’s automatic drip systems for ferns and flower beds

Front windows:  sadly, original windows in the two front rooms were replaced in the 1960s; “originals” now being fabricated!

Workshop:  after digging through reclaimed wood to restore the porch (and making a mess!), wood is now re-sorted, re-stacked, and ready for future projects . . . and we’re still discovering pretty old wallpapers on the planks.

I look forward to the day I can show you another finished project!

Until then, I’m going to keep juggling. Wish me luck!

Before you go, though . . .  How are you?

I hope you’re safe and well during these long-stretched days of uncertainty and social distancing. Please take care of yourself—and those in your circle of influence. We need each other, right?

  1. Patricia says

We are fine. I am ready to be yhrough with PT. July 17th was 7 months since my surgery. Doing PT 2x a day, keeping up with cooking and washing, bills and daily nap of 1-2 hrs is about all i can keep up with regularly.
Not the projects you had in mind but where i am.
Very slowly we ate updating the great room.
Guess i needed to share today.

    • Patricia, it sounds like you continue to run circles around me with all you do! I hope I can still be so active when I’m your age. I also hope the PT is helping—and will come to an end soon. Can’t imagine how old that’s getting for you…

  2. Susan, somewhere after I started blogging in 2013, we became virtual friends. I am so glad! My friends’ blogs are my best form of entertainment, even better than reading books, magazines, or watching TV. I just feel like I’m visiting with friends. I could almost guess what projects you’re into by the collage. I would’ve guessed the porch, gardening, tiling (fireplace), painting…..so I was close.
I’m staying busy helping one of my brothers purge, organize, and make his house he bought in 2011 finally his own. It’s an ongoing project, helping him transition from f/t employment to retirement, and getting life together in general. I’m still going to the antique mall once a week, but my local sister had her knee replaced so I’ll be solo for awhile.
Take care! Looks like you’ll have plenty of blog fodder for future months to share. Looking forward to it all!

    • I, too, am glad for our virtual friendship! It’s always fun to see what you have going on…although it sounds like you have much more happening than you blog about. Helping your brother seems like it may be a daunting but rewarding task. Hopefully he appreciates all of your organization skills! Best wishes for a quick and complete recovery for your sister. I know you’ll be glad when she’s back in circulation!
