Welcome to My Place to Yours

MPtoY house wtrmkThis is the house many of you have come to associate with me . . . and this thrift store shopper knew it was perfect the minute I saw it on a painting at Goodwill! Unfortunately, it isn’t signed, and there’s no way to attribute its happy whimsy to the artist, so I’ll just have to say, “Nice job — I love it!” . . . Years ago when I moved my site from Blogger to WordPress, this little house was the one thing I insisted make the move with me.

How about a tour?

This site has two navigation bars: The one in the top right corner tells About me … and what you can expect to find when you visit here. It also gives you a way to Contact Me … and some reasons why you might want to. Finally, there’s a Books page that lists an e-book I wrote – and a book written by my husband. Of course, if you click the Home tab, it takes you back to the first page of this site where you’ll find my three most recent blog posts plus six favorite categories:

  • Playing in the Dishes – anything related to tablescaping; tutorials, dish storage, inspiration boards, tablescapes
  • Befores & Afters – posts involving any kind of transformation
  • Inspiration – anything (and everything!) that offers inspiration
  • Old House Love – joys (and frustrations) of old houses
  • Stories of Hope – real stories about orphans and those who work with them
  • My Series – blog series found only at My Place to Yours

At the bottom of the home page you’ll find things like seasonal inspiration, a search box (in case you’re looking for something in particular), and My Place to Yours copyright and photo use guidelines.

The second navigation bar is the main one and is your “easy access” to lots of information and inspiration.  Every time a new post is published, it will be added to the appropriate section(s), so this reader-friendly resource will just keep growing!

Clicking on each tab will take you to a “main page” for that specific category.  Of course, you’ll want to check out all of the drop-down menus, too.  You’ll notice that the Tablescapes section is divided in several different ways so you can pick what you want. Vintage Linens provides posts with stories of collections and before/after transformations, linen care info, and testimonials about my all-time favorite linen cleaner. The Inspiration tab is your open door to a wide variety of offerings: crafts/DIY, creative caring, faith, field trips, gardens, posts about My Place, old house love, patriotism, recipes, and the Sally List. Sharing Hope is full of stories about orphans breaking cycles of poverty, abuse, and abandonment.

Notice that I’ve also added a Blog tab so you can go directly to the “traditional” blog page where you can scroll through all posts, search this site, sign up for emails, check out the sidebar, etc. The front page of the Blog offers previews of my 12 latest posts with the option to continue reading. Clicking on “Keep Reading…” will take you to the entire post. Below each post are related posts as well as a comment link so you can talk to me. Please do! You’ll also see that all posts have clickable categories and tags that will take you to even more “like” posts.

Social media buttons are located in two places:

FOLLOW links are below the first navigation bar – Buttons enable you to follow My Place to Yours on Pinterest and Google+ AND to receive new posts. Sign up for RSS delivery or (if you don’t even know what that is) get new posts sent straight to your inbox via email. Easy enough?

SHARE links are below each post. Those buttons let you

  • share individual posts
  • email posts to friends
  • pin post (or pics) onto your Pinterest boards
  • share via Facebook, Twitter, or Google+
