Are These Pics NOTECARD WORTHY?
I can't decide if I want to be tranquil or artsy today ... so I'm not going to choose! Either way, all of these notecards that I'll be linking to the Notecard Party at A Haven for Vee have two things in common: they're all in the same basic colors ... and they all feature something reflective. I actually did have this swan photograph made into notecards that I gave to my guests at last weekend's Festival of Tables. My table theme was Swan Song. You can see my tablescape HERE. What I Learned From A Power Surge
Whether you come here often or this is your very first visit ... I'm really glad you're here! I pray I can bring half as much encouragement and joy to you as you do to me. Festival of Tables Preview: SWAN SONG
Welcome to the weekend ... and Happy Pink Saturday! I'll be spending my Saturday setting up for and attending our church's annual Festival of Tables. Pink Saturday seems like the perfect time to give you a preview of my table. Color Texture Simplicity Traditional -- with a twist Swan Song ... It was part of the 2012 San Francisco Decorator Showcase ... and it got my creative juices flowing big time! The other-than-white tent, salmon-colored fabric paired with blue and white ginger jars plus a surprising splash of purple, and, of course, the location ... location ... location. Super Hero Texting
I was busily continuing my task of de-cluttering, when I received this text ... For those of you who don't know, Super Why! is a beloved super hero character on PBS Kids who teaches "letters" and reading. Little Man thinks he's cool and said he wanted a "Super Why! party and a purple cake" for his birthday. Game on! Step 1: Locate Kelly green t-shirt (Wasn't as easy as it sounds. Thank you, Target!) and Iron-on Transfer Paper (Hobby Lobby or Wal-Mart) Step 2: Print logo (provided by Little Man's Mommy) and cut it out. Hello all! I've never reprised an entire tablescape post before, but this seems like a good week to do it. In the spirit of the Olympics ... celebrating our world and its varied cultures. I hope you ENJOY! (Originally posted March 9, 2010) Last week when I did THIS "every place setting is different" tablescape ... ... Olympic Blogging: On your mark. Get set. GO!
July 6, 2005: Our family was in England for Daughter the Older's college graduation when the announcement was made: London was picked to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. As you can imagine, the news was the "talk of the town" and spirits were high! Twenty-four hours later, in an act of terrorism, bombs were detonated on board London Underground trains. 52 civilians died; over 700 were injured. The country mourned. So did we. Many of you did, too. That was SEVEN years ago, and much has happened since then ... but the day that seemed so distant has arrived. Table for Two: Lunch on the Porch
Earlier this week, we finally had the perfect day for lunch on the porch. Hot (but not too hot) with a gentle breeze. I grabbed some pretty Summertime linens and dishes ... and flowers from Renaissance Man's garden ... ... and started playing in the dishes! Cuisine Kathleen asks us to include a "tip," so here's my tip: When partying on the porch in hot weather, use lots of cool, clear glass and bright colors. They'll take your attention away from the heat! In no time at all, a table for two was ready and waiting for food and conversation. I love how Old Glory invited herself to the table.
