Even if you like the traditional reds and greens of Christmas, you can still add some whimsy with
- fun graphics
- traditional elements in a non-traditional style (like this tree)
- swirls
- candies
- pom-pom ornaments
Or, use bright color combinations and elements in non-traditional ways:
- unexpected textures (tulle, shredded and curled papers, spiked balls, mesh)
- patterned papers (plaids, stripes, etc.)
- ribbons
- playful ornaments
- cheerful felt crafts
- sparkle! (glitter, sequins, shiny ornaments)
This next board showcases virtually all of those ideas… and it showcases my go-to “whimsy” colors. 🙂
I used them in this Quirky Christmas tablescape and this Russian Winter tablescape.
What are YOUR favorite “whimsy” colors?

Susan, I am so enjoying your theme posts. You have come up with the most interesting ideas and examples.
Feel free to come over and link all of the theme posts at Pink Saturday. I don’t have a limit on how many times you can link.
Thanks, Beverly. I’m having fun creating them!
What fun collections! It’s I really love the two middle ones. As you know, I’m not afraid of color! ha! I think my favorite whimsy colors are chartreuse greens and turquoises with lots of sparkle!
