Owning Provenance …

One week and counting until Thanksgiving 2011.  Do you have big plans or will yours be a quiet celebration this year?  Whatever it is you’re planning, I hope you’ll choose to enjoy this week leading up to it.  You know … take time to smell the roses chrysanthemums.  I thought I knew what I was going to share with you on this Tablescape Thursday, but sometimes a gal’s just gotta change her mind. You’ll be glad I did when I share with you the nice surprise I received yesterday.

As best I recall, it began in October 2010.  I hadn’t been blogging very long, and my Etsy shop was pretty new when one of my blog readers saw these glasses in my shop.  They’re vintage, and they have the prettiest etched pinecone design and a silver rim.  She purchased the four I had … and said she wished I had four more!

How nonchalantly some friendships begin!  Some of you will know my friend as “Bonnie Bee” and will immediately think of the thoughtful and encouraging comments she leaves around Blogland.  Well, this week, I received an email from her in which she shared what she called “amateur” pictures of her Thanksgiving tablescape.  Knowing how some of us become a little “attached” to our collectibles, Bonnie wanted to give me a chance to visit the pinecone glasses in their new home, saying they remind her of me and our co-ownership of their provenance.  I love that!

I love her tablescape, too!
“Amateur” pictures … Sheesh!  They look great, don’t they?

Lots of great textures … I wonder if Bonnie’s going to put place cards in these little wire pumpkins.

Gorgeous balance of colors … and lots of pretty Fall touches in the background, too!

I love it when my non-blogging friends let me share their handiwork with you!  Bonnie, I’m so glad you agreed to venture a little further into Blogland.  I know My Place to Yours readers … and they’re lovin’ your table!  They’re just hoping you’ll send more pics next time!  (If you want the details about this table, you’ll find them at the bottom of this post.)

Speaking of “next time” …  The post I had planned to share with you today?  I’ll get it ready for Metamorphosis Monday.  It’s about where I spent last Saturday morning.  The Before was that I thought I was “just” going to the auction of a great old house.

The After was that it was still fully furnished (yes, I do mean “furnished”) with the owners’ transferware collection …

Yeah, I thought so … I’ll see you Sunday night.  Four days later, and I’m still experiencing inspiration overload!  This is a post you dish lovers will not want to miss.

I’m linking to Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

I hope you’ll leave a comment and tell Bonnie what you like best about her Thanksgiving table.  Then tell us all … Are you doing a Thanksgiving tablescape this year? What colors will you use?  Traditional favorites … or not?

If you’re celebrating early, I hope you have a wonderful weekend with family and friends as you count all the things for which you are thankful.  If you’re like me, there are many  and one of them is you!  Blessings and safe travel in the days ahead.

  2. Such a pretty table. How can I name a favorite thing? Everything is put together so beautifully. And I do love the glasses she bought from you!

  3. Her colors are beautiful. I love all the rich colors and textures. Happy Thanksgiving, Susan!

  4. Bonnie doesn’t blog?? Oh, she should. I would love to see more tables from her. The whole thing is lovely so I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite part. I guess it’s a tie between the centerpiece (love the abundance) and the individual setting. The little pumpkin place cards are the perfect touch.

As for me? I’m planning a similar table to last year for the family. We’ll do Wednesday evening with the four of us and then head over the river and through the wood to, well… you know the rest.

  5. Bonnie, we’ll be waiting for you to cheer you on when you decide to join us here in blog world. The textures and colors are wonderful, tied together beautifully by your amazing woven table runner…yes, my favorite element. You have a great eye for design, and I know that Susan was delighted to share your marvelous design. Cherry Kay

  8. First off, how nice of her to share her photos. It is such a lovely table. I think you hit the nail on the head about the textures. There are so many wonderful things happening in this table. Love those plates with the handles (don’t think I’ll be near that store any time soon).

And yes, I can’t wait to see your post with all of that transfer ware. It sounds amazing.

  9. Wow, your friend’s table is so pretty. We are having Thanksgiving at my sister-in-laws and I know from past experience we will not have a table so pretty. Maybe even paper plates. I know, but I just go with the flow. She is just not into that kind of thing. Thank you so much for stopping by “In His Grip”.

  10. Bonnie’s table is marvelous! I love all the vivid fall colors and textures….the dishes are lovely too. I especially like the ones underneath the top plate that look like they have a handle on the sides. Cute!
I also can’t wait to see your Met Monday post…..just the one picture of the blue transferware had me drooling! I bet there was lots more!

  17. How sweet that Bonnie would send you photos and let you “visit” the glassware!!! That is the cutest thing!!! I wish people to whom I sold things when I closed my business would do that! I miss 90% of it and wish I had it back!!! 🙂 Bonnie sure set a beautiful table! Way to go!!! I’m doing 2 tables this year…again. One for 6 in the dining room and another Tuscan-style for 12 in the living room. I’m doing both in very different styles so that people can choose where they feel most at home. Both fairly formal, but different colors and “moods.” We’ll see how that pans out! I hope all is well with you and that you are able to take a breather before all the craziness sets in. Have a great weekend!

  18. What a gorgeous table!!

    Your auction adventure sounds wonderful!

  19. Just beautiful!! I love the plates and those brown goblets. The whole table is just gorgeous! The colors are perfect for the season!

  20. Bonnie’s table is gorgeous! The dish stack is so interesting with different designs/textures. I love the rattan chargers. The amber glasses look so nice next to the acorn glasses, too. Lots of inspiration in this lovely table scape!

  21. We do get attached to the things we have to let go. How nice to be able to “visit”. The table says warm and welcoming to me! ~ Maureen
