Closet Speak

How was your weekend?  I managed to enjoy a little down time Friday night, but Saturday morning arrived bright and early ... and this stared me in the face.   ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!   The must-do, couldn't put it off any longer, closet cleaning day had arrived ... and I didn't wanna!  At all.  I knew what I'd find in there. I'd been trying to ignore it.   Jumbles of jewelry never put away after my last out-of-town trip ... or the one before that ... or the one before ...     Purses tossed on top of each other.  Some really needed to be donated ... Others flat out pitched.  I mostly only use a couple of them anyway.     And shoes ... Once neatly organized, many boxes now ... Keep Reading...

Calm Before the Storm

While everyone's gearing up for Father's Day weekend, I'm thinking about laying low ... for one short evening.  Renaissance Man is headed out of town for awhile (and I've got a list a mile long of things I want to accomplish while he's away), but Friday night after I take him to the airport, I'm going into "down time" mode for a few hours.  Maybe I'll rent a movie ... or start one of the many books I have waiting for me. Maybe I'll go to bed early.  No, I'd rather sleep late the next morning ... and wake up to this. What?  Can't a girl dream a little? Be honest.  I know you dream about pretty dishes ... and glassware ... and the palest of pink linens ... And flowers.  You DO dream about flowers, ... Keep Reading...

Havin’ A Hay Day

This blogger is a city girl ... but I think I'm a country girl at heart. I absolutely love to see this ... become this ... and then this ... A couple of weeks ago, I watched for the longest time as two local farmers baled hay. It always fascinates me when that round bale rolls out.  Sssshh ... Don't tell my hubby I'm THAT easy to please! It's 21st century farming, but I think it's still so peaceful ... Pastoral. So you cannot imagine my delight a few days ago when Renaissance Man called to say I should drive by the field where we've seen the draft horses and check out the happenings.  He knew I had my camera with me ... and that I was already in the vicinity. In fact, he was a few ... Keep Reading...

Summer Flower Power

Click HERE to visit Gayle's blog   Gayle, please email me and I'll send you the software download code!   I realize that Summer isn't officially here yet, but in my neck of the woods, Summer Vacation has arrived!  Even Blogland seems to be inundated with Summer-related posts ... so why not a rustic Summer Flower Power-themed tablescape this week?  A special friend gave me these little sunflower plates at the very end of last summer, but with The Big Event last Fall, I just never got a chance to show them to you.  This is also that friend's birthday week, and she's been on my mind, so it seems like the perfect time to enjoy a little flower power!       Rudbeckia ...   Cheery vintage floral ... Where Do I Keep It All?

Once again this year, The Tablescaper is celebrating her blog-aversary by hosting a Where Do You Keep It All? party.  I joined her party last year, and that post is my all-time most read post.  I guess we're all just a little curious, aren't we?   I've decided to party with her again this year, but even as I show you where I keep some of my things, I'm going to admit that I've been asking myself another question lately:  WHY Do You Keep It All?   The truth is, much of what I'm going to show you was bought for re-sale ... but it takes a lot of time to photograph and list this much stuff ... and so I've decided to let it go sooner rather than later.  Look closely ...  Almost everything you'll see is available, and I'm ready to ... PRETTY IN PINK … and a Giveaway

My Memories is offering one reader of My Place to Yours a chance to win your very own My Memories Suite software.  Even if you're not a scrapbooker, you'll still want to check it out. Go HERE to read all about it ... and enter to win.  I used the My Memories software to make today's Pink Saturday picture.  Renaissance Man has several colors of beautiful Asiatic lilies strutting their stuff in our garden right now, but I chose this "pretty in pink" one to share with you today ... Happy Pink Saturday!  I hope you're having a wonderful weekend. I'm partying with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.   ... Keep Reading...

Something New … Something Blue

Although brides and grooms tie the knot year-round, June has long been the traditional month for weddings.  I had hoped to do a "full blown" tablescape for you this week using Noritake Marywood china, but my plans changed and I ended up with the Wedding Blues.  I'll share the china with you anyway...   Click the collage once -- or twice! -- to enlarge it.   Marywood was a popular choice of beauty-loving, price-conscious brides in the 1970s ... and continued to be offered until the mid '90s. I think its delicate blue flowers, bright white field, and thin platinum band are still stunning decades later.   Let's do an impromptu link-up, why don't we? If you have a blog and have ever done a ... Keep Reading...

Limited to ONE WORD … Is it possible?

If you haven't yet entered my giveaway for the My Memories Digital Scrapbooking software, what are you waiting on?  Their online scrapbook software is f.u.n!   I spent a minute today looking at the My Memories blog and saw this ...     Why not?  I knew just the pictures (and the ONE WORD) to use.  They were taken on my last trip to Brazil with Hope Unlimited for Children.  I wonder how to say this word in Portuguese ...   Check out the other entries HERE. Every time I open the software, I find another really fun feature ... but I've only just begun to discover them all!  You don't want to miss out on the fun, do you?     My Memories is ... My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software GIVEAWAY

A few weeks ago, while visiting around Blogland, I saw a giveaway for free digital scrapbooking software ... but it had just ended.  Of course it had.  Oh, well.  I'm not a scrapbooker, so "easy come, easy go."  What's the likelihood that I would have won anyway? But a couple of days later when I was contacted by My Memories (the very same digital scrapbooking company) and they said they wanted to give free software to me ... and to you ... I was ecstatic.  For both of us, of course!  So what would a non-scrapbooker want with digital scrapbooking software?  I'm so glad you asked!  Just look at all the things we can do. Cards and invitations for any occasion ...   Photo albums or memory books like this ... Keep Reading...

The Silent Sacrifice

On a warm and windy day last month, I spotted Old Glory waving her colors as I looked out the hospital window. The sight seemed even more poignant than usual because the hospital stood in the middle of an Army Base ... Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Little Sir was less than 24 hours old, safely secure in the care of his parents ... and so I picked up the camera. As I took picture after picture, imagining the snapping and flapping of the flag, my mind was almost overwhelmed by thoughts of beauty ... and sacrifice. Some of us live at a distance; never seeing the sacrifices unless they involve death and make the headlines.  Others of us view them from only a few steps away.  But military families?  On one level or another, ... Cake on the Brain!

Some of you enjoyed the wedding inspiration boards I shared with you in my tablescape post this week ... even specifically mentioning the gorgeous cupcake in one of them (Do cupcakes call your name like they do mine?)  ... so I thought I'd show you the cupcake inspiration board, too.  Can't you just see these beauties on a tiered stand ... and a navy tablecloth with vintage doilies spread over it like I did in my tablescape?  I can.   And while I have cake on the brain, I want to offer a quick congratulations to a fellow blogger ...  Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.  Her popular weekly all-things-pink blog party is celebrating a milestone.  Why don't you stop by and tell her Happy Birthday?  While you're there visiting, be sure to ... KEY TO MY HEART … Inspired By A Wedding

Hello all!  This week, my tablescape inspiration came from some idea boards I did awhile ago for soon-to-be-married young friends.  Their wedding colors are ivory, blues, and golds ... Many of the pictures in these inspirations boards are the "actuals" ... the wedding gown, bridesmaid's dress and shoes, ballroom, save-the-date, and invitation.  The others are ideas they want to incorporate ... floating flower centerpieces, antique keys, pearls.         Now that you hopefully know the "feel" I want to achieve, I'll let you decide if I succeeded ... or not. I started with the only navy tablecloth I have then added a variety of doilies as a nod to the lace wedding gown and antique keys ... Keep Reading...

Do You Earn A Merit Badge?

While sitting in the beauty shop the other day waiting for a haircut, I picked up this magazine.   One short article caused me to chuckle and grab my smartphone so I could share this with you ... and so I wouldn't forget it.  I don't even think you'll mind my inferior pics.   The writer decided to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts by forming a new association:  Boomer Scouts.  She even created merit badges to recognize the triumphs of Baby Boomers so often unrecognized by those around them. According to Boomer Scouts spokeswoman, Carolyn Bucior, (the author herself), "These badges aim to affirm and celebrate our everyday wins while we still can."   While, according to the U.S. Census ... The Tablescape Challenge: Pink Au Naturale

I cannot believe it's been almost two months since this tablescape...   Click HERE to see the tablescape.   ... and this exchange:     **Who knew ASAP would be "forever"?**   When I thought about the Tablescape Challenge, my mind usually saw something like this ...   ... but this week when I realized the Tablescape Challenge was actually going to happen, I re-read Debbie's comment.  After all, I didn't want to miss any aspect of her challenge or I would **lose** for sure!  It's a good thing I did because I'd forgotten about the "accessories."   accessories   plural of  ac·ces·so·ry (Noun) 1. A thing that can be added to something else in order to ... Keep Reading...

The Notecard Party

If this is your first time to stop by, WELCOME to My Place to Yours!  If, however, you've been here a time or two before, I'm so glad you're here again today. I hope you all feel right at home .. and that you'll come back often.   Today, for the first time, I'm joining The Notecard Party at A Haven for Vee.  This little get-together is still pretty new in Blogland.  It takes place on the third Wednesday of each month, and anyone wishing to party is asked to share four pictures they've already used on their blog that they think would make a good set of notecards.  Well, since I love notecards, I decided it was time I got my act together so I can party, too!  How about you?  Do you like notecards?   If you know me at all, you ... Pallet Turned Sexy-Leg Coffee Table

He reads this blog ... Not Renaissance Man.  Well, yes, he does -- but I already knew that.  So does my Daddy on occasion, but not him either.  Who then?  Well, I'll tell you ... It began one day last December when Daughter the Younger asked us to bring power tools when we came to their house for Christmas.  She and our Favorite Fatigue Wearer had a DIY project in mind.  That sounded fun to me! When we arrived, we learned the project involved this shipping pallet ... and plans to turn it into a coffee table.  I was already thinking to myself what a fun blog post the project would make when Daughter the Younger told me that the top would get a dark stain ... and the legs would be red!  Oh, yeah ... LOVE ... Keep Reading...
