By the way, do you know that those “stickers” (aka patches) now have Velcro on the back? I know some men and women … wives and mamas … who’ve gotta love that!

an online treasury of things that make me smile—and some that make me weep. Tablescapes, vintage linens, DIY, creative caring, inspiring stories, encouraging words … children at risk, orphan care, mixed-up priorities in today’s Church. Beautiful words. Amen
Linda @ A Toile Tale
Beautiful and powerful post, Susan. The pictures of Little Man in his dress ups caught my heart in an awesome way. I stand amazed at the bravery and selflessness of those who chose to do for me what I can’t do myself. They are my heroes.
Please send my warmest thank yous to that man in uniform AND his faithful family.
Susan, What a wonderful, heart-felt, moving post. It makes me want to cry to see the children do the dress up like Mom/Dad. Congratulations on New Baby…what a blessing. Happy, Blessed Memorial Day to you, too! xo Diana
I will never ever forget the day that I said good bye to Sweet Mister as he boarded a plane for Viet Nam. It was the oct gut wrenching day of my life. Our prayers for our military must never cease. Thanks for sharing your thoughtful post, and congratulations on that precious new baby. I grow more excited each for our new sweet one to arrive. Cherry Kay
I’m all choked up. *tears*
When we lived on Guam, every neighbor in our subdivision was military (except us). At under 50, I was the grandma and I loved every minute of it! Watch your rugrats while you go on a scuba diving date with your spouse? Sure. Just to see them come back from their rare time together, glowing, laughing, so in love. Only wish I could’ve done more. So much more.
OH! MAN! This day is getting to my heart. As it should… Yet, I’m amazed at the blogs I “follow” who haven’t so much as pecked out a word M-E-M-O-R-I-A-L. Excuse me. I have some “settings” to visit. I have freedom of speech because a kid was shot through the throat (pardon my blunt-ness.) I want to surround myself, and fill “my eyes” with gratitude, too. I shall. Many paid the price so I’d have something for which to be grateful.
I’m going to back up and look at those tear-jerking photos again before I go…
