It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a tablescape with you, so let’s remedy that!
Here’s an inspiration board showing a quick table I put together a couple of months ago when Renaissance Man’s tulips were blooming. Tulips are my favorite flower, and they’re always “in season” for me!
What makes this tablescape work?
Texture and Rhythm
Texture:
- Vintage cutwork runner
- “Ragged” edge of tulips
- Embossed sterling band on 19th century pearl handled fork
- Nubby-weave napkins
- Embossed design of Mikasa Italian Countryside plates
- “Hammered” glass goblets (from Dollar Tree)
- Pressed glass “coasters”
Rhythm:
- Curvy shape of goblets
- Casual display of napkins (rather than folded)
- Droopy “movement” of bell-shaped tulips
What’s YOUR favorite flower?

Susan, I adore tulips, too, in any color, but to me, white ones are the epitome of elegance! Your cutwork table runner is gorgeous! Thanks for stopping by my table this week!
Beautiful table scape – my favorite flower? It’s always been violets – but for summer time everywhere, I love zinnias – and for inside the rest of the seasons – yellow roses tipped in pink!
Lovely!
This is lovely. I think the simplicity is really nice, and those tulips deserve the spotlight!
What a happy table! Despite their inherent droop, the tulips are so cheerful. I like the bit of glimmer off the pearl handled fork and the glass goblets and coasters. The creamy whites also add a happy note. Favorite flowers for me – ah, so many, but peonies are an absolute fave. Also love lilacs, hyacinth and hydrangea.
Lovely! Those tulips are divine and I am totally in love with your table runner.
For those of us who do this all the time, week after week, we might forget that there is a newbie tablescaper who just discovered your blog today. Excellent advice for creating a beautiful table setting!
Your texture and rhythm are fabulous. Great tips on elements of design.
I love tulips too.
Hey there! You betcha tulips are always in season!!! I love to use them throughout the year, especially at Christmas time. They come in such a wide variety of colors that you just can’t resist!!! They are probably my favorite flower, too, although hydrangea runs a close 2nd.
That flatware is just the bomb diggity! I love it!!! It has a sturdy look without being overpowering, and a graceful look without being “poofy.” I think I would use it for just about every table I set!!!
Very nice, Susan, and I like the “reasons” section!
I am drooling over your pearl handled forks. I have been on the hunt for six reasonably priced place settings for decades. And, no luck, but not giving up hope. Your table looks so pretty.
I really love flowers, but I guess my Garden Party roses are my favorite.
