I was already feeling like royalty after an unexpected two weeks of playing with Little Man … and then four days of snuggling with his new little brother.
In case you missed this post last week, Little Sir has joined our family … finally!
Since purple is the color associated with royalty, it seemed rather appropriate that virtually all of the flowers blooming upon our return home yesterday were (you guessed it) purple. Imagine my surprise today, though, when I pulled out a damask tablecloth to prepare for sale and found a small, beautifully hand-sewn royal monogram.
I’ve had the cloth for a long time … sitting in a stack of need-to-be-laundered linens I got at auction. In fact, over a year ago I showed the tablecloth to a friend who was looking for a damask cloth. She chose a different one that had matching napkins … but we both recognized the high quality of the royal cloth. Funny thing, though … On that day, neither one of us noticed the monogram. How I wish I knew its provenance!
You know what comes to mind tonight as I write this? It’s a Bible verse about seeing something … but not really seeing. Interesting, too, that it contains another “royalty” reference. The apostle Paul is talking about the Kingdom of God.
Now we see God as if we are looking at a reflection in a mirror. But then, in the future, we will see him right before our eyes. Now I know only a part, but at that time I will know fully, as God has known me. (I Corinthians 13:12)
Sometimes we say “seeing is believing. But believing without seeing? That’s called Faith.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Oh yes not seeing and believing is faith! I talked on faith tonight with some young kids…and yes, it takes faith to please God.
