Promises, Promises …

In the bulb there is a flower;
in the seed, an apple tree;
in cocoons, a hidden promise;
butterflies will soon be free!

In the cold and snow of winter
there’s a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

There’s a song in every silence,
seeking word and melody;
there’s a dawn in every darkness,
bringing hope to you and me.

From the past will come the future;
what it holds, a mystery,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

In our end is our beginning;
in our time, infinity;
in our doubt there is believing;
in our life, eternity.

In our death, a resurrection;
at the last, a victory,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

We sang this Hymn of Promise at church recently.  I didn’t remember hearing it before; it’s beautiful.  Click HERE if you’d like to see the musical score.

These pics were all taken this Spring.  They remind me of the promise of Hope we are blessed with … every year.  For that I am truly grateful.  I’m grateful for you, too, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I’ll be joining:
Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound
Spiritual Sunday at Blogger Spirit
Seasonal Sundays at The Tablescaper

  1. Susan- I have never heard that song but the lyrics are beautiful and your pictures to accompany them are perfect- xo Diana

  2. One of my very favorite hymns! We sing it rather frequently, and I particularly included it in worship that I was responsible for planning for a UMW gathering. It corresponded with the theme of the UMW that year – “The Earth Is The Lord’s.” Most recently, it was sung at a memorial service for the husband of a dear friend

    You have chosen such beautiful pictures to go along with the words.

    Have a wonderful week-end, Susan.

    xo Nellie

  3. A marvelous job putting the pretty flowers with such inspiring words.

  4. Scroll down three images and that is my very favorite photo posted this PINK SATURDAY if I had to pick one.

    What a beautiful way to narrate your beautiful, BEAUTIFUL pictures.

    I don’t know why, but it took me about 45 years to discover that there was such a thing as a pink dogwood. It is now my favorite flowering tree of all time. Just beautiful!!

  6. Such beautiful photos of God’s work! We had another hard freeze last night that took out anything that might have been leftover from the freeze a few nights ago. Sigh! 🙁

    Have a beautiful weekend!

  7. Dearest Susan … your flowers are truly a reminder that beauty evolves from the darkest and coldest winters. And yes we need to have faith and believe that all we journey through is part of the bigger picture – our purpose! Wonderful words and beautiful photos.

    The day started out with a very light sprinkling of snow here .. but is opening up to sunshine and the white stuff is magically disappearing. Wishing you a lovely week-end..xo Hugs and blessings, C. (HHL)
