I am ROCKIN’ IT this week!

Oh, my goodness, it’s a crazy-busy week here at My Place.

What’s it like at yours?

You know the #RiskRejection posts I wrote? The ones telling you about

All of those things are picking up speed this week. ALL of them!

The sign is in the yard, showings are happening, and prospects are on the table.

I continue to declutter “stuff” – and my mind.

I’ve started preliminary training to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Children – and preparing for broken hearts.

Summit 2014 is next week  – and we’d sure appreciate your prayers!

And if that’s not enough, I’ve been compiling a huge database and sending out invitations for that facilitating I’m trying to do…

But even with all of that going on – even while intentionally paying attention to Jesus’ commands upon my life and trying to be obedient

you know what I can’t get off of my mind?  This…

The big ol’ rock Little Sir picked up during Little Man’s school Easter Egg Hunt – and carried around for an hour!

And when a well-meaning adult took it from him and laid it aside… he waited patiently until she walked away – then picked it right back up.  🙂

I chuckled at his persistence – and watched perplexed… wishing I knew what he was thinking.DSCF6326

And ever since then, I’ve asked myself if there’s anything I’m “holding on to for dear life”.  Anything I’m unwilling to give up. It’s only cute when you’re two…

Anything standing in my way of complete obedience

Pride? Fear? Laziness? Giving in to distraction? Making excuses?

Anything standing in yours?

There’s only one ROCK worth holding on to…

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
    my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my ROCK and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
    he is my mighty ROCK, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
    pour out your hearts to him,
    for God is our refuge.

Psalm 62:5-8

I’ll be joining #TellHisStory@ Jennifer Dukes Lee.

Comments

  1. Susan, I just have to tell you how proud of you I feel.

  2. The opening image of your grandson? To me, the rock looks HEART-SHAPED! Not in the other images, but in that one!

    I’m grateful to God for the decisions you’ve made!

    Hugs and happy highways,
    Kelley~

  3. I love the passage from Psalms you posted… stumbled upon your blog a while ago and I just love it! 🙂

  4. Loved this post! Precious photos for sure. But even more certain is that holding on to our stuff only looks cute when we are toddlers. So the truth! May we only hold onto Him & what He places in our hands. So glad I was your neighbor at Tell His Story. Blessings!

  5. How is it possible that I keep saying this to you? This is your best post EVER. At least for me, for such a time as this, it is. I’ll probably go back and read an old post of yours sometime and change my mind yet again, but for today I stand by my evaluation.

    It rocks.

    (Sorry. I couldn’t help myself.)

    So now, I’m going to sit down and pray. And then, I’m going to prayerfully make a list of the rocks I’m holding on to when there are hidden treasures just waiting to be discovered.

    (And I love the photo WITH the sign about adult supervision in it. It could spark another entire devotional post. You are so excellent at seeming them in the ordinary.)

  6. Convicting…and inspiring…and truthful! Blessings on your journey and may you put down any rock that encumbers your walk in obedience. May you see the Lord with you on each step you take. Precious picture of your grandson…such a boy thing and one this mom of boys and grandsons totally understands. I am letting the Lord take my hands off of some rocks I need to release.
