Holidays don’t require starting from scratch!

Last week brought an expected treat. I was contacted by a gentleman from the Dallas Morning News. His email read:

I work for The Dallas Morning News’ HomeCenter section. Our writer has written a story about adapting decorations for more than one holiday. Our designer found your website and would like to use a couple of the photos from the site that show using decorations for more than one holiday. May we have your permission to use a few photos?

Well, yes, you may! (Which photos? I probably have a higher resolution.)

Seriously?  Li’l ol’ me amateur photographer/Texas transplant with a photo in THE Dallas Morning News?  What a hoot!

Since none of my Texas family has easy access to the Dallas Morning News, I can only tell you what the paper’s representative told me:

Last Sunday, two of my photographs ran on the cover of the Dallas Morning News HomeCenter section. Here’s the tearsheet he sent to prove it.

You might like to see the originals. I know I would!

Really… It was a quick-and-easy path from Autumn’s Soup & Silver tablescape to Winter’s Snow Angels.

If you look closely, you’ll see I didn’t “start from scratch” but simply changed things up a bit. That’s a real time-saver during the busy-ness of the holidays, so you might want to plan ahead NOW—so things will be easier on you THEN!

Just click on the links to see the transformation… and read my “tried and true” tablescaping tips!

It’s two weeks and counting until Turkey Day…  Do you have big plans?

  1. Susan, how thrilling! I’ll have to ask my Dallas sister if she saw the piece in the paper and tell her I “know” you! Congratulations!

  2. FANTASTIC!!! That’s such terrific news! You just never know who out there in the world is going to see your work and find their own brand of value in it. You may touch someone who is agonizing over what to do, someone who is just looking for something fresh, someone who really doesn’t care about “that sort of thing” but is attracted to your tablescape just the same, OR someone who writes for a big newspaper looking for photos to go with their story!!! 🙂

Have a very happy Thanksgiving and congratulations!!!

  3. Congratulations! They are smart to do an article on transitional table decor and smarter to call on you for pictures! 🙂

  4. Wonderful news! I like your idea of changing it up a bit. Your tables are very pretty! Thanks for sharing.
    Blessings My Friend,

  5. That is wonderful! Congrats Susan.
