Richard Simmons Travels to Brazil: Meeting the Children of Hope Unlimited

A couple of weeks ago I told you how wishing for a well turned into dinner with Richard Simmons. If you missed that story of God showing off, just go ahead and click the link.  You’ve really gotta hear it.  Then come back here and I’ll tell you the next part. Really, go ahead.  I’ll wait…

Last Saturday, Richard Simmons and two friends visited the campus of Hope Unlimited for Children in Campinas, Brazil. Richard and his friend Mauro Oliveira (who grew up at the City of Youth before Hope’s time) are shown here … receiving a warm welcome from a few of the children.

The purpose of the trip?  To meet the kids, learn about Hope’s award-winning model of life transformation for abandoned, exploited, abused, and trafficked children … and dedicate the new well Richard providedHow I wish I had been there! I hear a wonderful time was had by all. Richard even asked if he could offer the dedicatory prayer.

Look — no more tie!  It doesn’t take long around Hope’s kids before you just relax and LIVE.

Richard and Mauro did the honors:  TURN ON THAT WATER!

Oh, to have a picture of the kids enjoying the ultimate “playing in the sprinkler” moment.  I’m sure one’s out there; I just haven’t seen it yet …

So … this is how a few good men spent their weekend … brightening a little of the world’s gloom.

How about you? What are you doing to brighten the gloom?  Need some ideas you can do from the comfort of your own home? HERE you go.

  1. That is a great project to bring clean water to the children. I am doing my bit to brighten the gloom too; if we each do our part, the world will be a brighter place. Thanks for publicizing this water project.

  2. I am sitting here in Awe of how God touches the hearts of men to bring life to his little children. Great post, thanks for sharing.
    Blessings,
    Sue

  3. Came in from doing some outside work just a little while ago, turned on the tv and just happened to catch the end of the feature about this story on Entertainment Tonight!!! What a great story and what great national coverage for Hope Unlimited!!

  4. w0w-How amazing is that! God bless those children and God bless Richard Simmons. He has a heart bigger than his body- xo Diana

  5. I pray that I never, ever stop being blown away by the things that God can do. He built a well through a man named Richard Simmons. He. Is. Amazing.

And while I’m giving shout outs, Richard is pretty fantastic himself. He has always had the biggest heart, IMO.
