Because …

Happy Easter!

Last Sunday I shared with you a palm branch-laden cross … and told you the palms would be replaced with flowers on Easter. Isn’t it beautiful?

Our church members bring whatever flowers are blooming in their yards and add them to the cross … in celebration of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead and the eternal relationship he offers to each of us.

Because Jesus didn’t stay in the tomb, my life is full of joy and hope …even in the hard times.

Because he died for me, I am never separated from the love of God.

Because he lives, I can face tomorrow … and whatever it holds.

Do you know this song?

Because He Lives

God sent his son
They called him Jesus
He came to love
Heal and forgive
He lived and died
To buy my pardon
An empty grave
Is there to prove
My Savior lives

(Chorus)
Because he lives
I can face tomorrow
Because he lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because he lives

How sweet to hold
A newborn baby
And feel the pride
And joy he gives
But greater still
The calm assurance
This child can face
Uncertain days
Because he lives

And then one day
I’ll cross the river
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain
And then as death
Gives way to victory
I’ll see the lights
Of glory and
I’ll know he lives

For virtually all of my adult life, this song has been a lifeline for me. No matter what the realities of my life, these words have helped me stay focused and hopeful, reminding me that the Power that rolled the stone away from the tomb on Easter morning is the very same One … 2000+ years later … promising to always be with me. When I begin to feel anxious, it reminds me that God holds the future … and my job is to trust him.

Why?  Because …

Because he lives … not IF he lives. What a huge difference a single word makes!

The same is true for you, too.  Because …

Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.  Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.  And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.  (Romans 8:34-39)

  2. The beauty of Easter. Thank you for sharing.♥♫

  3. Believe it or not, I posted a flower laden cross as well. Now, you might take it as so, but I take it as a pleasure that you and I seem to think so much alike. Yours is just simply beautiful, just like the Savior in whose name it was beautified. I had missed your palm covered cross last week.

And the words that you included here are as beautiful as the cross. That happens to be one of my family’s favorite songs.

  4. And that just published without a snaffoo. This week is starting out better than last, I guess!

  5. I do love that song and it’s so appropriate at Easter. Love the cross of flowers, how unique.

  6. Beautiful beyond words ~ and blue colors ~ Enjoy ^_^

  7. Yes, I know that song, and I know that Savior. (You’ve got me humming now!)

What a great idea to have the flower cross. I have one on our cake for the same reasons–and that the cross is beautiful.

    Thanks for sharing your blues.

    Happy Blue Monday, Susan.

  8. We had a very nice church service as well. However, nothing as lovely as this cross. Absolutely the most gorgous ever. Alo, one of my very favorite hymns.

  9. Hi, I am your newest follower. That cross is SO very beautiful, thanks for sharing that and for sharing God’s word with all of us. Gina

  10. Do I know that song? I grew up singing it even before I knew Him. Good thing He knows us way before we even begin to know a tad about Him…and I am so glad HE LIVES.
The flowered cross is GORGEOUS, Susan, absolutely beautiful.
    Easter blessings.

I was browsing through your linens and they are beautiful. I hope you sell some again. I am particularly interested in linen hand towels or tea towels.
    XOXO’s
