Possibilities Overload … and an AUCTION Sneak Peek

Oh, my goodness … Where has this week gone? I thought today was Wednesday until I got a Tablescape Thursday email in my inbox! So I’m a little later than usual to the party this week, but I’m not going to miss it.

On our recent trip north, we spent an afternoon in the amazing little town of Saugatuck, Michigan. Oh, how I wish we’d had more time! There was more to see and do than there had been on Mackinac Island, and I’m thinking if there’s a next time, we’ll plan a trip here instead…

For starters, there was the HUGE Amsterdam Antiques & Oddities store right on the Blue Star Highway. I took lots of pics, but today I’ll just show you a few of their restaurant dishes.

They aren’t all “my style,” but that’s the challenge I have with dishes … No matter the style, I’m always inspired! My mind starts whirling and creating the perfect tablescape to show them off. Does that happen to you, too? I have a SERIOUSLY bad case of that…

I had the same problem in the Bright World Candle Co. in fabulous old downtown Saugatuck … from the moment I walked in the door and saw this wall of colored candles.

And then all of the fantastic displays

I was on serious “possibilities overload!”

Any one of these vignettes would be inspiration for a tablescape…

How could anyone ever choose a favorite?

< When I saw these pretty navy napkins, I decided that if I were doing a tablescape that day, it would have to be navy ... so I could use these beauties!

Yes. Absolutely. Navy … with perhaps just a touch of aqua?

Oh, dear … Now the pink and orange possibilities are swirling in the brain.

Like I said, possibilities overload. Fabulous, wonderful, give-it-to-me-in-small-doses color overload …

It was definitely time to leave. Besides, a little birdie reminded me that I had work to do.

There’s a charity auction in Blogland that begins tomorrow night. I need to finish getting ready…
I hope you’re making plans to join me!

Read about it HERE… and get a tiny sneak peek HERE. The hours are counting down on my sidebar.
Spread the word!

AUCTION HAS ENDED.<   I'll be linking to Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch, Inspiration Friday: At The Picket Fence, Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home, and Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound.

  3. Did you feel like you had died and gone to Tablescaping Heaven?!? I love it-we went through that area, too. I had no idea this place existed. Maybe that is a GOOD thing- xo Diana

  4. I do exactly the same thing when I see dishes. I start to create the table in my head. Linens do that to me as well. I haven’t had the experience with candles yet. I guess it’s a “progressive illness” and you’re in a more advanced stage.

  5. Hi! Visiting from Romantic home. LOVE your pictures! We lived in Michigan for a few years and I loved being there. Ill have to show this to my hubby.. and tell I want to go! 🙂

If you get a chance I would love for you to share this at my Friday link party! 🙂

  8. Serious sensory overload. The navy napkins are superb. Did you go home with them? I’m thinking not because of your down-sizing. Thanks for taking us along on the trip. Cherry Kay

  9. How beautiful!! Happy Pink Saturday and have a nice weekend.

    My PINK

  10. Oh, my goodness…I would just have my way with those navy napkins!!!!!! They are so pretty! There were lots and lots of pretty glass pieces, too. The purple elevated votive holders were really unique! I have a thing for hotel dishes, too. I’ve always kind of thought of them as in a class all their own. I remember when I was watching “Titanic” and saw all those dishes come crashing down. My heart just sank! No wonder you were on possibility overload!!!

  11. So pretty and delightful! Visiting from Pink Saturday.
