Gayle, please email me and I’ll send you the software download code!

I realize that Summer isn’t officially here yet, but in my neck of the woods, Summer Vacation has arrived!  Even Blogland seems to be inundated with Summer-related posts … so why not a rustic Summer Flower Power-themed tablescape this week?  A special friend gave me these little sunflower plates at the very end of last summer, but with The Big Event last Fall, I just never got a chance to show them to you.  This is also that friend’s birthday week, and she’s been on my mind, so it seems like the perfect time to enjoy a little flower power!

Rudbeckia …

Cheery vintage floral damask napkins…

You expected sphagnum moss?  It would have had a totally different look — and feel!

Seagrass placemat … Gibson “Claremont” dinner plate (with its “sunrays” design) … unmarked rope-trimmed salad plate (headed to another friend — I haven’t forgotten!) … and a flower to make me smile.

Mikasa “Italian Countryside” flatware to complement the “sunrays”…

And family and friends tumblers…

Perfect for a casual Summertime meal, don’t you think?

I wish you were here to join me!

Congratulations again to Gayle at Behind the Gate for winning the MyMemories giveaway.  Remember, if you didn’t win — or forgot to enter — you can still use the code on my sidebar to save $10 on your purchase.

So tell me …

Has Summertime arrived at your house?  Do you plant sunflowers?  Do they have the power to make you smile?

The power of flowers … and friendship

“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art…  It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.”  ~C.S. Lewis

I’m so glad you stopped today, my friends! Have a wonderful rest of the week … and I hope to see you again soon!

I’ll be joining Cuisine Kathleen for Let’s Dish.  If you like tablescaping, you’ll want to join me.  Those ladies know how to host a party!

  5. I’m so glad that C.S. Lewis set out to prove that Christ was not the Son of God….is Lewis the best, or what! I’ve never planted sunflowers. It’s still pretty cool here, I wonder if it’s too late. Love your casual summer table…the sunflower plates set a summer time mood. The raffia filler is a cool touch; I’ve never thought of that. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. No, the Jadeite plates were bought a couple of years ago. I just finished editing the photos for my ‘surprise’ this evening. I’ll do the post next week. I’ll send you a preview in a Flickr album. Cherry Kay

  6. I loved your quote at the end of this one, Susan.

The table is wonderfully yellow, and it makes me feel all happy and summery. I do love summer flowers, and I love sunflowers. We don’t grow any, but there used to be a cheerful field of them on my country commute that I looked forward to every year. They didn’t plant last year or this year, and I miss them.

  7. Hooray for Gayle! She is really going to enjoy that!!! I like the casual comfort of this table very much. It feels like an old friend. You just feel pampered without feeling uncomfortable or off guard. I keep forgetting about rudbeckia! That’s a flower I could plant that would look great in my yard!!! I love the raffia you stuffed in around the base of the plant…very unique & cool!!!

  8. I AM SO EXCITED!!! Thank you so much! Let me know what I need to do to claim my prize. Now I need to get tech savvy and learn how to digital scrap book. My daughter is a professional photographer so I have TONS of pics of the little ones. Yea!

  9. The table is great…I have those napkins. Yes we planted sunflowers…and Benjamin is having a blast watching them grow and pass him up in height.

Now to get inspired with all my photos!! Enjoyed your table!!

  10. Oh, this is marvelously sunny and summery! Love everything about it! Especially the napkins!
    Kathy

  11. Today feels summery, but until school ends in late June I don’t feel like it is summer.
Love the sunflower plates, very cheerful. We can use cheer all year round!
