GIVE IT UP! A Sally List Update

Hello all!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I’m really glad you’re here.  Quite frankly, I’m glad I’m here, too!  (Translation:  I’m glad Sister and I survived our crazy-busy, heavy-lifting, lots-of-standing weekend — and lived to tell about it!)

As you know if you read my last post, my Sister was flying in from Texas to help me with this…

After two days of locating all of my hidey-holes (you can see some of them HERE and HERE), hauling my “stash of stuff” to the living room, and setting up display spaces on the porch, Saturday morning arrived and it was time to move everything outside.  There was, however, no time to grab the good camera, so we’ll just have to make do with cell phone pics…

We used every inch of space.

Since the sale benefited Hope Unlimited for Children, we didn’t want to miss an opportunity for a little visibility.  Some of you may recognize some of these panels from last October’s 20th Anniversary Celebration.

There was a steady flow of people all day, and a lot of the pretties found new homes.

I asked people to take the pieces they loved … and contribute whatever they could to Hope.  There’s still money coming in, and we’re getting close to raising $2,000. I’m very grateful.

The things that didn’t find new homes will be boxed up and taken to auction … because I’m very serious about de-cluttering.

In fact, de-cluttering is one of the major items on my Sally List.

Another is inviting friends to tell them about Hope.  I’ve done that in other ways this year, but this was something different.

Still another … and the basis for the first two … is being intentional about contributing to the Kingdom of God through my choices.

I wrote my first Sally List post last November, and I was delighted when some of you followed suit and made your own.  If the Sally List is new to you, I hope you’ll click the link above to read about it.  A Sally List is not a “bucket list” of things I want to do before I die.  It’s a list of things I want to do so that, in whatever time I have left on this Earth, I’ll LIVE … with clarity, proper priorities, and awareness of the world around me.

Summertime is here … and Sally and I are checking off the list.  How about you?  Do you need to dust off the one you made months ago — and get busy?  Or maybe it’s time to start one …
Leave a comment and let us all know what you’re doing. Remember … we’re here to hold each other accountable!

The before/after in my storage space is amazing, but what I’m really loving is the extra “space” I’m feeling in my mind and heart.  The mental and spiritual de-cluttering that took place over the weekend was all I’d hoped it would be.  Now I’m on a roll!  Renaissance Man says he’ll help me tackle the attic next …

Thanks again … and again … sweet Sister! I couldn’t have done it without you. Enjoy your birthday week!

Comments

  1. It sounds like you had a successful week-end! I wish I could have come. Too many conflicts. That should be on my Sally List – working on my calendar.:-)

  2. nice pics of a well-organized sale

  3. Ooo, I see some blue and white goodies.

    Thanks for sharing your blues.

    Happy Blue Monday, Susan.

  4. Hi Susan, I am de-cluttering too! I have been feeling like that for weeks and have made a dent. I feel like I need to “lay low” and not run around and spend and overindulge, etc. I spent the better part of a day shredding files, mostly bills, old receipts, etc. and I felt wonderful throwing the huge plastic bag into the recycle container. xo

  5. I see great linens there and your dishes are beautiful!

  6. Great cause, happy blue Monday!

Come and see my BLUE when you get a chance.

  7. OK, first I must tell Sally that I love her summer look. She’s very spiffy!
Second, what a mammoth task. I’m so proud of you!

I was very struck by the way you put this:

“…be(ing) intentional about contributing to the Kingdom of God through my choices.”

I’m going to write that and put that out where I can see it.

  8. Oh my goodness….you’ve had all that stuff in your hidey-holes??? Whaaaat??? Wow, I’m impressed that you’ve cleaned it all out for charity! Maureen (It’s All Connected) and myself often say to one another “But not right away, of course…maybe a few days from now”. That’s because I made a Sally List and have not been fastidious about doing everything on it. Now, you’ve shamed me…I’ll have to take it out and dust it off! But, I’ve still been trying to be a better person and help others out whenever I can…does that count? Hahaha! Take care and thanks for this awesome “kick me in the butt” post! xo wendy

  9. This is inspiring from beginning to end…too much to comment on as my heart just swells with joy over all of this. Oh I wished I lived close to come to the sale, but I too am getting to less and less…which is good, since I don’t know where God will have us next, the days of much are gone, the days of intentional living are here…good thing.

Blessings…blessings…blessings. Glad you had a great visit!

  10. I, too, love the phrase that Debbie picked from your post. Because of course every choice we make {intentional or not} does affect the kingdom of God. I think for me, at this point in my life, the accumulation of so much living, is taking a toll on the life I lead now! Thanks for the reminders that I need to begin now to change ~

  11. Hi! I found your blog through (in)courage! Love your post and I’m your newest follower!
