Displaying the Wares

Hello all!  If this is your first time here, I’m so glad you stopped by for a visit … and I hope you’ll come again often.  To those of you who’ve become faithful friends, I’m honored that you’re choosing to drop in today.  Friendships, both “in real life” and in Blogland, are celebrated here!

A couple of months ago, I agreed to be a vendor at an “upscale” market to be held in conjunction with a fundraiser luncheon and fashion show benefiting the Women of Vision organization at Carson-Newman College.  In this year of de-cluttering and downsizing, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to pass on some pretties to the next person. The event was Saturday, and what a fun day it was!

Of course, at the time I agreed to do the event, I wasn’t counting on Little Sir arriving two weeks late … and causing this Nonna to get just a little bit overwhelmed trying to get ready for the event.  Of course, it also didn’t help that I had yet another “iron in the fire” that was an even higher priority and had an earlier-in-the-week deadline.  As my dear friend Lisa said, “Your life stresses me” … to which I replied, “My life stresses me, too!”  But fortunately, friends keep friends from going nuts, so Lisa came over and helped me with the last bit of packing glassware and measuring tablecloths … then Renaissance Man hauled the heavy boxes and furniture.  Lisa even stayed at the venue and helped me turn two empty tables into a storefront.  What a blessing to have such great helpers!  Thanks to both of you!

After spending most of my spare time last week laundering and ironing linens, I got to Friday and struggled to decide what kinds of non-linen things to take.  I knew I wanted to use a baker’s rack to display most of the breakables, but it was only when “the light bulb came on” and I decided to do a different theme on each shelf that everything came together quickly.  Do you see the themes?  Hit the Beach.  Asia Pacific.  Golden Glam.  Beautiful Blues.  The same thing works for tablescape inspiration, too.  Pick a theme …

If you haven’t tried Restoration Linen Cleaner yet, you really should.  You just wouldn’t believe how awful some of these linens looked LAST Monday …

Let the downsizing begin …

So tell me …  What’s the last big project YOU took on?  Is it now in the past – or are you still in the middle of it?  I can’t wait to hear what you’ve gotten yourself into!

I’ll be partying at Between Naps on the Porch.
It’s Metamorphosis Monday … where you’ll find lots of Befores and Afters!

  2. It all looks wonderful, Susan! You have such an eye for display. I love the way you grouped your items.

My last project? It was making a historical spectacle of myself in the center of town, of course. My NEXT one? It is seriously losing the weight I’ve gained this year. I am horrified by the pictures of said project and have as yet been too chicken to share them.

And so, project TIRE REMOVAL is started in earnest. No more half hearted carb counting for this chick.

  3. Wow!! It just looks wonderful, and wish I could get a piece or two…but downsizing here. Blessings

Oh projects…do they ever end? Not around here!

Life busy is better than boring!!

  4. Your display is lovely! It would have been fun to journey to Carson Newman for this event. However, I was returning from some time at Lake Junaluska!:)
