Santa Fe Simplicity

Welcome to My Place to Yours and another day of tablescape inspiration.  If you’ve been following my blog over the past week or so, you know I’ve been traveling.

As much as I love playing in the dishes, sometimes there’s nothing better than letting someone else do the playing.  That’s how I felt last week in Santa Fe.

Come on…  Let’s go to breakfast at the El Paradero B&B in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The inside light is a little dim from the overnight rain-turned-morning snow…

But look around — The room is bright and inviting!

And the food is delicious!  But we didn’t have to cook that green chile and cheese omelet … or jalapeno cornbread muffin.<

Rested, relaxed, and now ready to meet the day?  Let’s leave through the back door.  It looks like something we’d like to see a little more closely…

Oh, yeah, it is definitely something to see more closely! LOVE these painted window panes…

The courtyard beyond the door holds another surprise… A large carved sculpture of St. Francis of Assisi — lightly dusted with snow.

Santa Fe Simplicity … at its best.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:25-26)

I’m partying at Between Naps on the Porch. It’s Tablescape Thursday!

Do you ever stay in B&Bs when you travel – or would you like to?

Do you have a favorite – or one on a “someday” list? Do tell!

My all-time favorite B&B (so far) is in Canada:
Fairholme Manor – Vancouver Island, British Columbia

Two days was an amazing treat — but not nearly long enough! Sadly, my camera with all the pics was lost (stolen?) in an airport, and I got home with nothing but the memories.  Someday perhaps I’ll go back …

  1. Susan, that door is gorgeous. I’d stare at it all day. Love all the colors too.
Yes, my husband and I have stayed at B&B’s before. Finchingfield Farm in Vermont for autumn 1988 (this was before we had children). The owners were lovely. I’ll never forget the delicious breakfasts–pancakes with mouth-watering local maple syrup. I remember leaving behind a pair of gold earrings and the homeowners mailed them back to me with a darling hand-written personal note. Where have such details gone? It was glorious. Thank you for stirring my memories…and stomach. I think I’ll make pancakes for breakfast. 😉
Thank you for the verse too.
    Much love to you.

  2. Love Santa Fe. Such an enchanting place!

  3. The whole place is just fabulous. I would love to stay there, and yes, I love a B&B. I would rather stay in one than in a regular hotel. Unfortunately or fortunately, we generally have the whole family together for trips so we don’t get to do it as regularly.

My favorite place, of course, is the Ballastone Inn in Savannah where we spent our wedding night and several anniversaries since.

  4. It is great fun to travel and share what you see, especially the tables when they are colorful and inviting. Santa Fe is a great place for that.

  5. I just love the colors..so cheerful and the dust of snow…something we don’t see much.

I love B&B’s but haven’t been in one in years…I LOVE the Inn above Onion Creek…down in the hill country of Texas. It isn’t an old B&B….of course then the B&B’s in Fredricksburg Texas

Oh I am thinking our mother’s knew each other…how funny

  6. What a great place for breakfast. I have never been to Santa Fe, but maybe we should consider a trip there. Thank you for stopping by “In His Grip”. My stocking is going nicely so far I have about 5″ done so far. Just a few rows into the tree and Santa pattern. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  7. The land of enchantment…New Mexico and it’s vibrant colors are one of my favorite states to visit.

  8. My favorite B&B is the Kenwood Inn. It belongs to my neighbor and friend in St. Augustine, and she does her best to make it warm and inviting. She is a sweetheart, and her guests continue to come back because of the warm welcome they get.

    XO,

    Sheila
