Cowgirl Up!

Welcome to My Place to Yours at this beginning of a new week! I hope it’s a fantastic one for you. I’m so glad you decided to stop by today.

For Pink Saturday I gave you a glimpse into the pink and powerful personality of a young, just-graduated-from-high-school friend of mine.

I’ve known her family for many years. Renaissance Man and her father were college debaters together. She knows I like to plan parties, so she asked me to help her brainstorm ideas for her graduation Open House. Of course, that’s just “play” for me, so I was happy to do it!

As I told you before, she’s a cowgirl at heart …

… so it didn’t surprise me at all when she sent this picture of her chosen venue.

And since she’s such a social butterfly, I knew she’d want this space filled with friends and family …

I thought she’d want a traditional “country party” look — and she did …

And I thought she’d want to use non-traditional colors — like hot pink and lime green and turquoise.

She didn’t.

She wanted very traditional colors: red and blue.

The tablecloths were rented from BBJ Linen.  I told you about that great party resource HERE.

Of course, the graduate put together a traditional “memory” table complete with pics of friends and family, sports ribbons and trophies, and scrapbooks…

I don’t have permission from all of her friends to post their pics, so I’ve blurred this — but you get the idea.
<   The thing my young friend was most excited about was her cake.  (Several months ago I showed her a picture of a cake I'd seen at the blog Perfectly Imperfect— Shaunna planned a fantastic western party for her son’s birthday — and my country-girl-at-heart friend loved it … and replicated it!

As we all know, “imitation is the greatest form of flattery.”

It was a big hit at her party — and delicious, too!

She was pleased with her choices …

… and all the little details …

… and especially pleased to see friends and family who stopped by throughout the afternoon.

Even the geese celebrated with her from a few feet away…

After a busy summer, the girl will be off to college. She’d rather go straight to cosmetology school, but her Daddy wouldn’t agree to that! Instead, she’ll get her degree in business then go to cosmetology school. Perhaps someday she’ll achieve her dream of owning her own cosmetology business. Renaissance Man and I are certainly pulling for her!

Join me for Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch to see lots of Befores and Afters!
