Happy PINK Easter!

Oh, it’s so nice to be sitting here at my own desk and writing my blog rather than in an airport or a hotel … but I have wonderful news to share with you about our recent trip to Brazil — and I’m hoping to do that for Met Monday.

Today, because I’m still trying to catch up at home, I’m going to share last year’s Easter tablescape with you. Keep in mind, it was pre-blog days (which means pre- learning camera tricks), but I hope you might still enjoy it.

There were three of us around the table last Easter. As I told you HERE, Renaissance Man’s then 89-year-old mother was visiting us from Texas — almost certainly the last trip she would ever make to our home in Tennessee.  I wanted her to once again see some of the treasures she had already passed on to us. You saw this sweet demitasse set in the previous post.

She loves pink, so I decided to start with a heavy vintage pink damask tea cloth and napkins. Then I added the Franciscan Desert Rose dishes that once belonged to her … a gift from a church her husband once pastored. Renaissance Man was the only child left at home by that time, so the dishes came to us.

Beautiful Easter morning tulips and Lenten Rose from Renaissance Man’s garden …

One of my favorite vintage basket design centerpiece doilies …

And a cross ornament tucked in — because Easter means nothing without the Cross.

I pray you know that …

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.(I Peter 1:3)

Happy Easter and great rejoicing as we celebrate the RISEN Lord!

Pink Christmas

Comments

  1. It was beautiful, and you didn’t need a “camera trick” at all! I love those desert rose dishes. Every time I see some, I try not to covet. I have enough pink, I tell myself. (Can you ever have enough pink?)

My favorite part is actually that stemware. I love the etched design.

I’m glad you included the cross. May you have a wonderfully blessed Easter!

  2. Susan, What a beautiful setting and so many treasures from your MIL. I’m sure she realized how much you love her by your thoughtfulness. I like the tulips and Lenten roses, two of my favorites. Thanks for including the cross and reminding us of the true meaning of Easter.
I hope you and your family have a blessed Easter.

  3. What a beautiful post Susan…love the colors of the table scape. Happy Easter!

  4. You already know how I feel about family treasures. You truly honored your MIL with this lovely tablescape. Your gentle witness set a beautiful tone at the end of your post. Thank you for standing bold in the Gospel and for sharing your dear design. Cherry Kay

  5. You are so right about the cross! What a beautiful setting of family memories! Blessings to you this Easter.

  7. This just about made me cry. I think it is so wonderful that you would think to honor your mother-in-law in this way. To want to SHOW her and let her FEEL and totally experience the joy you get from the beautiful pieces she passed on to you is so wonderful. I am sure she felt nothing but sheer pleasure with the way you paid homage. Bravo! Happy to see the Lenten Rose in your floral arrangement. I planted a Lenten Rose about 10 years ago at our former home, and it is one of the few plantings still thriving there. It is so pretty as it brings the hope of Spring with each year’s blooms. I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful and safe Easter weekend. Thank you so much for stopping by my place earlier, too. I so appreciate and enjoy hearing from you!

  8. Beautiful beautiful post!

    Happy Easter!

  9. What a pretty setting! I love the Desert Rose dishes. I found a whole bunch in our local antique store and am still contemplating picking them up. My mom has a few that were my Grandma’s and it would be nice to add to the collection. Have a lovely day!

  10. Beautiful table and so nice to use most of what your mother in law gave you….Christine

  11. I love the Franciscan dishes and how wonderful that they belonged to someone so dear to you. Thanks you for visiting and your kind comments. Welcome home fellow Tennessean and Happy Easter! Dianne

  12. Susan, what a pretty table! I know your mother-in-law loved seeing her lovely things on your table. I really like the way you showcased the tulips and Lenten roses! Have a blessed Easter!

  13. Susan, Thank you so much for visiting and your kind comments.
I love your beautiful Easter table. I also have the Desert Rose pattern. Don’t you just love the old stuff. It is so wonderful that your dear Mil got to observe your using her treasures.
Another example of the circle of life represented in this our Holy Holiday. Have a wonderful holiday. Ginger 🙂

  14. Can’t wait to hear all about your trip. I sure understand about settling in again.

Thanks so much for sharing your photos from last year. What a lovely table and how special that you set it with precious things that your MIL has passed onto you, in honor of her visit. I love how you placed the small vases on the tiered cake stands. The Lenten roses are gorgeous. Your basic patterned doily is such a precious possession. The cross is the perfect touch.

Hope to see you at Seasonal Sundays.
