A Nod to St. Valentine

I just couldn’t do it this year …  I’m sooooo not in the mood for a pink and red Valentine’s Day tablescape.  I wanted something more soothing … softer … more romantic without being over-the-top-frilly.  I looked around for inspiration.

I found it here — in this Capidomonte centerpiece bowl …

… and here in this Noritake Irene china.

I used a vintage pale pink linen tablecloth with matching napkins …

A vintage white-on-white embroidered runner with handmade lace trim …

Clear ribbed glass chargers …

The inspiration china dinner plates …

Clear salad plates with encrusted gold rims …

Vintage auction find glasses embellished with gold …  See that gorgeous lyre?  Don’t you just hear the music of angels?

Inexpensive goldware I found on eBay ..

Standing napkin rings I found recently at Goodwill …

Heart-shaped ornaments from a local overstock/salvage store. They were probably from Costco or Kirklands …

Put it all together and add a few candles and rose petals — and you get this …

I have two of these gorgeous punch cups — with little chips on the rim. I wouldn’t want to use them for punch … but they’re perfect for a heart-shaped floating candle.

All the pretty dishes …

I have 9 of the ornaments, so I filled the centerpiece bowl with necklaces … and tucked in the hearts.

Shadows fall … and the romance continues.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
