Winter Warm-Up… A Tablescape Event for Charity

If you’re visiting My Place to Yours for the first time — WELCOME! I hope you enjoy yourself and come back often.

I have a special tablescape for you today!  If you’ve followed this blog since last Summer, you may remember when I posted HERE about the Festival of Tables I participated in at my church. Well, my sister’s church in Texas does something similar — but different.

Rather than simply having table hostesses decorate a themed table “just because,” they decided last year that they wanted to be more creative and less competitive.  They still do themed tables, but now they use items in their tablescapes that afterwards are given to their local food pantry. Isn’t that a wonderful idea? From staple goods like sugar, flour, pasta, and dried beans to baby food and diapers to laundry supplies … it’s all needed locally, so the ladies of the church plan a fun Winter Warm-Up to kick off their winter Bible studies AND help their neighbor at the same time!  Hmmm … Church groups, civic groups, Girl Scouts, sororities … Is your mind whirling like mine is? I love this idea, and I can’t think of a single community it wouldn’t benefit!

There are lots of tables, and you’ll see some themes that are similar — with wonderfully different interpretations — and some that are unique … We owe our most sincere thanks to my sister for telling me about this event — and to her church’s Director of Women’s Ministry for sharing these pictures with us.  You’re in for a treat.  Have fun looking! If you like this idea and want to use it in your community, this sample letter to table hostesses will get you started.

To all of you creative Texas tablescapers who stopped by to see your tables in Blogland … nice work! I love tablescapes and, in fact, they’re a primary feature of this blog. I hope you’ll stop by often because this “transplanted Texan” thinks we just might have a lot in common.  I love sending tablescape ideas… from My Place to Yours!

I’m linking this post to these great blog parties …
