Just say the word …

Do you have a “word” for the new year? When it comes to my workroom, my word is DE-CLUTTER! I let things get away from me in 2010, but even though we’re only two days into 2011, I’ve made fantastic progress!

If you’ve read my blog for awhile, you may remember seeing the first metamorphosis. (If not, you can read about it HERE.)

From this table full of unsorted auction linens…

… to these bins of organized textile treasures.

It was progress — and really nice to know what I had — but I knew that eventually I wanted to find some open shelving so I could easily pull out and SEE my yet-to-be-laundered inventory.

My criteria for storage: large, sturdy, inexpensive and (pleeeeaase) no repair or painting necessary.

When a friend told me that a local florist was closing her shop and had a storage cabinet I might want, I was hopeful. I couldn’t check it out right then, but my sweet husband offered to do it for me. This is the picture he texted to me …

… with these measurements: 86″ x 48″ x 22″
Ohhhhh, yeah!
SOLD

Now, thanks to that man I married, it’s in my workroom filled with linens — and sporting a new flat screen TV. That will come in handy for all of those hours I’ll spend ironing linens.

I LOVE this hidden storage! I didn’t realize it was there until we got home. Then, when I saw that four plastic bins I’d almost gotten rid of the week before fit inside perfectly…well, that was a “big smile” moment!

Lots of beautiful vintage linens to list in my Etsy shop — so I can send them … from My Place to Yours!

Anything catch your eye? If you want to see it closer, just email me…no need to wait.

By the way, if it’s cold right now where you live, it’s a good time to pull out your linens and freshen them up for Spring. Ironing isn’t nearly as “hot” a task in the Winter!

Check out my all-time favorite linen cleaner. It’s available in my Etsy shop.

  2. Love all your photos of linen … and the mosaic too. If I have a goal for this year, it is also to reorganize and declutter. Probably many of us feel that way.

  3. Oh Good for YOU to find such a perfect cabinet. You do have quite a collection of vintage linens….I have purged mine over the years, but am kinda hunting for some more! What I’d really like to do is make some table linens using some of my vintage fabrics, lace and ribbons. I’ll just add that to my ToDo List in 2011. Great photos as always…you are always so inspiring!
