New Face in Blogland

One of the reasons I love to look at tablescapes in Blogland is that I enjoy seeing different interpretations of the same theme. For the past several weeks, most of us have done at least one Autumn-themed tablescape centered around leaves, warm colors, and cozy textures. Some of us, myself included, have done several — and will do even more between now and Thanksgiving.

My friend, Lisa, enjoys doing tablescapes, but she’s never shared one in Blogland … until today!  I invited her to show us what’s on her table this week. (She’s so organized she keeps one table “set” virtually all the time.) I’ve really enjoyed seeing the “pretties” she decorates with at this time of year — and I think you will, too!  Be sure to notice how many of my favorite Fall decorating elements she uses in this tablescape.  (If you missed that post, you can read it HERE.)

For starters, who could miss this fantastic damask tablecloth? Doesn’t it just scream, “I am gorgeous — and I know it”?  Lisa says it is “by far my most favorite tablecloth … and I use it all the time.”  Now that’s what I like to hear; people USING their vintage linens!  However, imagine my surprise when she told me it was one (along with the napkins) that she bought from ME several years ago.  All I can figure is that it must not fit my table. 🙂  … Love it!

I don’t have a good close-up to show you of the long scoop-shaped bowl at the far corner of Lisa’s table in the above picture. It’s an original pottery piece by Mary Bow of Barefoot Bowls (Dandridge, TN), and it’s very similar to mine shown at the back of this vignette. (I showed this to you several weeks ago when I wrote Falling for Pottery. What I didn’t tell you then is that Lisa gave mine to me!)

Now, back to Lisa’s pictures … Notice the stoneware dishes. They’re a Big Lots bargain from several years ago. Aren’t they perfect for a Fall tablescape?  The smoky-brown glasses were on a clearance table at Bloomfield’s Dish Barn in Flat Rock, NC.

The flatware was another years-ago “find” … this time from Wal-Mart.

Lisa told me the pewter napkin rings were a gift from an elderly neighbor whose farm adjoins theirs. She thinks they were from Land’s End .. and she has a set of 12.  Nice neighbor!  They are the set Lisa uses most often …

The Johnny Appleseed salt and pepper shakers by Fitz and Floyd were a gift years ago from Lisa’s sister. The vibrant colors and apples just say “perfect for Fall,” don’t they?

A more traditional salt and pepper set is also tucked into the Fall foliage …

Here’s a better look at the centerpiece … Notice the small curved flat platter on the corner of the table. It is an original stoneware piece by Hank Goodman (Arden, NC).

This round pottery bowl is an Earth Tones piece by Judy Jones of Gatlinburg, TN … not far from where Lisa lives.  The square red plates used as chargers on the ends are by Waechtersbach of Germany.  The square plates at the side place settings were close-outs at Pier One.

When the candles were lit, the room lighting changed drastically — and made picture-taking a little challenging — but I think you can see the beautiful ambience …

… and sneak a peek at more beauties in the corner china cabinet!

Perhaps Lisa will share another tablescape with us someday …

Thank you, Lisa! Welcome to Blogland!

I’m linking Lisa’s tablescape to Centerpiece Wednesdays at The Style Sisters and Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

  1. This is lovely. I love the garland centerpiece that twines down the middle of the table. And just enogh candle light to reflect of shiny surfaces and glass to make the room have that cozy glow.

  2. Her autumn hues are very different and lovely. I think that’s my favorite part. That little Johnny Appleseed salt and pepper shaker is another favorite. It’s all just so pretty!

  11. Oh, your friend Lisa really did set a lovely table for us. Please be sure to tell her how much we enjoyed seeing it. One of my favorite friends is named Lisa. They are good girls! And you’re right about her cloth… wonderful. I enjoyed hearing all about the other pieces of the tablescape as well. I agree about her neighbor being very, very nice!

Rita, the minute your blog opened I was in love. Those blue and white plates!!! Wonderful. I also like your cute stands with the cups and saucers. I couldn’t get the second two pics to load, but I clicked on the first one to get a better look. Very pretty.
