For the Beauty of the Earth

At this season of Thanksgiving, I often find myself looking to the heavens with gratitude…
… as my mind reflects on these words penned in 1864 by Englishman Folliot S. Pierpoint …
For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.
Thank you for stopping by today.  May you have a blessed weekend.
Happy Pink Saturday to everyone joining me at How Sweet the Sound and … Happy Blue Monday to my friends at Smiling Sally!

  1. Susan, that was beautiful! I loved your pictures and the perfect verse to accompany them.

On a different note, I am going to email you this weekend about that cleaner. I have been running 90 to nothing, and so has Mr. Magpie. Save me one, please!!!

    XO,

    Sheila 🙂

  2. Beautiful sky, Susan.

I’m guessin’ that you’re going to link in on Monday.

  3. LOL Yes, Sally, I’m going to be there! See you on Monday…

  4. Hi Susan! Thanks so much for your sweet comment on my post today! I loved reading this poem because it always makes me think of a scene in Little Women where they are singing this. 🙂 If you are ever interested in joining the Inspiration Friday party I would love to have you and your gorgeous posts be apart of it. Your words and photos offer so much Inspiration!
    Blessings to you,
    Vanessa

  5. Love all your pinks especially the second picture. Happy Pink Saturday.

  6. What a lovely Pink Saturday post and how I enjoyed these words to one of the old and lovely praise and worship hymn songs. Perfect for Thanksgiving. We’re already enjoying fun Thanksgiving projects and activities for grandparents and grandchildren here including singing, so I may have to work on that one as well. 🙂 Have a blessed week.
