Moonlight Beach

Have you had a walk along the beach this Summer? If not, maybe this tablescape will calm your spirit a little. Let’s walk…

A vintage open-weave tablecloth reminiscent of a fish net … seagrass placemats … and (again this week) my “every day” flatware — because the design has the feel of waves.

Vibrantly-colored, handpainted “Delray” dinner plates with seashells by Bella Cermica.  (Notice the waves again.) And tall clear glass shrimp compotes …

Vintage turquoise linen napkins with beaded seashell napkin rings …

And vintage Jeannette Glass “Thumbprint” glasses that made me think of fish blowing bubbles. (Is that going a little too far? I don’t know — but I think they work!)

A Capidomonte-style footed shell dish with a little child seated among flowers for my centerpiece. It came from the estate of a former Tennessee mayor (and I’ll be listing it in my Etsy shop tomorrow), but I just wanted to use it once!

The shell dish needed more “presence” on the table (it’s only 8″ wide and 4″ tall), so I raised it on a clear pedestal dish.

And added “sand.” (It’s actually this great product that I got years ago from Hobby Lobby. It shows up better than sand in a tablescape — and in pictures! — and it’s also a lot less messy!

White ceramic shrimp cocktail dishes to serve as a tea light holders … and more talus and seashells

I didn’t have any sea glass, so scattered on the tabletop and tucked in with the seashells are these smooth glass pieces found recently at Dollar Tree.  Such soft, muted colors …

Two’s Company seashell holder with shell-topped hors d’oeuvres picks …

mud pie fish-shaped canape plate with seashell-handled spreader ...

The table is set … the candles are lit … the moonlight is about to arrive …

Are you relaxing yet?

Do you hear the waves crashing upon the shore?

Take a deep breath of that salty sea air …

And enjoy the moonlight …

Thanks for stopping by. Please come again!

  1. Oh, the beach tableware just never ends, I love every setting I see. I am just a beach girl at heart. Your little spreader on the fish plate is by far and away my favorite of the whole table – just fabulous. You really captured the moonlight, all of a sudden the whole table was bathed in blue, what wonderful night photography.

  12. Yep, it’s relaxing! I love brown and blue together anyway, but I think it’s so pretty how you did it for a sea themed scape. The tablecloth DID bring to mind a fish net. Great call! Good job.

  13. Oh, this is lovely. I especially like the blue tones as it gets darker. Sigh… I am so ready to get to the ocean.

  14. Fabulous beachy table.
